About

It all started when…

I'm Ashlyn, the face behind The Last Chomp. From a young age I have always been in the kitchen creating overtly complex dishes. I love being in the kitchen and creating food that makes everyone smile, food is the centre of many occasions especially family gatherings. I have a passion for food, health and design.

I have been a vegetarian since the age of 7, or around this when mum accepted this wasn't a phase I was going through. This was then made more complicated when I was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance a couple of years later. I think this enhanced my love for cooking, I had to make food that tasted good and now adhered to these restrictions. A couple of years ago I then found out that I had a dairy intolerance. This really rocked my world, pizza and cheese were key parts of my diet, that and coffee. I soon found ways to adapt to this new change and these inspired my cooking creativity to make the things that I loved in a way that I could eat and also a way that was healthier and nourishing for your body.

After finishing high school I began my degree as a photographer and soon found my love for graphic design, something I added to my degree, doing a double degree. In my second year of university we were presented with the chance to create a book from start to finish, recipes, pictures and graphics. This is where I found how to combine my two loves together, food and design. It was a cookbook that combined these intolerance's and created food in a healthy way (although of course there are a couple of cheat meals!) I created my cookbook within 15 weeks and is, to this day, something I am incredibly proud of.

The Last Chomp has been in the making for quite sometime. It is an insight into my kitchen, my design and somewhere I can share my passion with the world. I am on a journey to low-tox living, by no means am I perfect but I hope you can join in on the journey! I hope you all enjoy my recipes as much as I have loved creating these for everyone.

Happy cooking and chomping!
